  21. FEDIX is an on-line information service that links the higher education
  22. community and the federal government to facilitate research, education,
  23. and services. The system provides accurate and timely federal agency 
  24. information to colleges, universities, and other research organizations. 
  25.  
  26. FEDIX provides daily information updates on: 
  27.  
  28.   - Federal EDUCATION and RESEARCH PROGRAMS (including descriptions, 
  29.     eligibility, funding, deadlines).
  30.   - SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS, and GRANTS
  31.   - Available used government RESEARCH EQUIPMENT
  32.   - New funding for specific research and education activities from
  33.     the COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY, FEDERAL REGISTER, and other sources.
  34.   - MINORITY ASSISTANCE research and education programs
  35.   - NEWS & CURRENT EVENTS within participating agencies
  36.   - GENERAL INFORMATION such as agency history, budget, organizational
  37.     structure, mission statement, etc.

  39. PARTICIPATING AGENCIES
  40.  
  41. Currently FEDIX provides information on 10 federal agencies. The
  42. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Naval Research (ONR), National
  43. Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Air Force Office of Scientific
  44. Research (AFOSR), and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are providing 
  45. comprehensive education- and research-related agency information, while the 
  46. National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Housing and Urban 
  47. Development (HUD), Department of Commerce (DOC), Department of Education
  48. (DOEd) and National Security Agency (NSA) are providing minority assistance
  49. information, exclusively. Additional government agencies are expected to join 
  50. FEDIX in the future.
